the death of a clive man will face a judge today. anthony piercy faces one count of involuntary manslaughter. piercy's arraignment is set for today in morgan county, missouri. back in may 20-14, investigators say brandon ellingson drowned while in handcuffs and in police custody at the lake of the ozarks. more than a year after a special prosecutor cleared piercy of any wrong doing, a new prosecutor says he acted recklessly by putting the wrong life jacket on the college student. if convicted he faces up to 7 years in prison.

their goodbyes to a prominent des moines community leader next week. the funeral for former principal financial c-e-o david hurd is set for next wednesday. it will take place at first unitarian church, in des moines at 10:30 a-m. a community visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p-m on tuesday at the capital square atrium. the 86 year old died on saturday after falling from the 22nd floor of the plaza condominiums in downtown des moines. we could learn the fate of a multi-state oil project soon... today, the iowa utilities board holds its fourth and final hearing of the week on the bakken pipeline proposal. the 3 point 7 billion project would connect north dakota oil fields to an oil pipeline in illinois. members are considering allowing the developer to use private land that belongs to owners who don't want them digging on their property. north dakota, south dakota and illinois officials have already approved it. a decision could come at the end

at the agribusiness association of iowa showcase and conference, lieutenant-governor kim reynolds was speaking on some of the ag issues in iowa. she spoke mostly on the governor's proposal funding education and water quality until 2049 called save. in 2009 a 1 percent sales tax was approved for 20 years for school infrastructure. reynolds and the governor want to extend it another 20 years. guaranteeing the first $10 million of annual growth to schools and using the extra growth for water quality funding. they estimate it would make $20.7 billion for schools and $4.7 billion for water quality. but the proposal
